Pupils study aspects of television, film, news reporting, radio, music, advertising and press. Final GCSE Media Studies results are based on:
3 Pieces of Controlled Assessment work comprising of two textual investigations and the production of a media artefact - worth 60% - these pieces of work are usually completed by the end of Year 10 but may be re-visited in Year 11.
A 2 hr 15min examination at the end of year 11 worth 40% - the examination is based on two media topics. In-depth study of these topics doesn’t begin until Year 11. The examination is split into two sections focusing on planning skills and investigative skills.
