GCSE Media Studies is an exciting and practical course that develops a critical awareness and understanding about the role of The Mass Media in our lives. Pupils study aspects of television, film, news reporting, radio, music, advertising and press. It is an ideal course for anyone wanting to study the media at a higher level or considering a career in the media.

KS4

Final GCSE Media Studies results are based on:

3 Pieces of Controlled Assessment work comprising of two textual investigations and the production of a media artefact - worth 60% - these pieces of work are usually completed by the end of Year 10 but may be re-visited in Year 11.

A 2 hr 15min examination at the end of year 11 worth 40% - the examination is based on two media topics. In-depth study of these topics doesn’t begin until Year 11. The examination is split into two sections focusing on planning skills and investigative skills.
