Modern Languages Football Tournament

At Easter 2005, the Modern Languages Department held Euro 2005, a football tournament between the year 10 and 11 GCSE French and Spanish students.

The pupils not only had to adopt the names of their favourite French or Spanish players, but they had to communicate throughout in the Target Language of their “country”! Mr.Clitheroe was the footie ref, whilst Mrs Winter and Mrs Hardman were the language refs!

The final was between Year 11 France and Year 11 Spain, with Spain as the overall tournament winners.

KS4 Revision Day at Salford University

In February and March 2005 a number of students in Year 10 and 11 took advantage of the opportunity to visit Maxwell Hall at Salford University and sample student life. Two separate visits were run for the French and Spanish pupils.

During the day pupils attended a seminar led by 2 native speakers which involved audience participation with fun activities. The aim of the day was to help pupils with their revision and preparation for their GCSE exams.
