Activities & Events

KS3 STEM

Tuesdays 3-4. Pupils in Year 8&9 are given the opportunity to attend STEM club which offers opportunities to extend Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths beyond the curriculum. The first project is designing and building hovercrafts.

KS4 Rocket Club

Thursdays after school, three teams of up to five pupils are invited to take part in the UkayRoc Rocketry Challenge. This has resulted in the school qualifying to take place in the national finals for the last two years, and receiving support and sponsorship from BAe systems.

Science Week

The department runs extra activities during National Science Week, including extra lunchtime science clubs. This year, pupils made slime, built bridges from straws, set fire to bubbles, and made simple rockets.

During Activities Week, pupils took part in Video Conferences with the National Space Centre in Leicester, visited Alton Towers and built propelled gliders.
